fabtic and the Cognitive Centre bring you a one-day national juvenile firesetting conference entitled Working With Juvenile Firesetters – Keys to Success, led throughout by Professor David Kolko.

Professor of Psychiatry, Psychology, Paediatrics and Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Pittsburgh, Professor Kolko is recognised as one of the world’s leading authorities on juvenile firesetting behaviour. He has spent over 30 years researching – and working directly with – children and adolescents who set fires.

In his first UK conference since 2009, Professor Kolko will deliver an overview of current juvenile firesetter work, discuss the use and validity of assessment tools and give an insight into intervention materials that will form the basis of a new book proposed for early next year.

Through case studies of his work and open Q&A sessions, delegates will have the opportunity to learn from Professor’s Kolko expertise, based in research that spans three decades.

The conference is relevant to all agencies working with children who set fires, including Fire and Rescue services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Children and Families departments, Education, Youth Offending Teams and foster, adoption and residential services. Therefore the day also provides a networking opportunity for professionals in a range of support services from across the UK to share and discuss ideas together.

The cost of the conference is £295 +VAT per delegate (including all materials, lunch and refreshments) and the venue is the Midland Hotel Manchester, Peter Street, Manchester, M60 2DS.

To book a place, please contact the Cognitive Centre on (029) 2051 3048 or email wendy@cognitivecentre.com There has been a lot of interest expressed in this conference and so early booking is advised in order to ensure a delegate place.

fabtic, the Cognitive Centre and Professor Kolko look forward to meeting you on the day and extending a warm welcome to you in Manchester.
