In partnership with Professor David Kolko, fabtic and the Cognitive Centre are pleased to announce a one-day juvenile firesetter conference in Manchester on Friday 17 April 2015.
Professor Kolko is recognised as one of the leading researchers in the juvenile firesetting field. Professor Kolko works directly with children and adolescents at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre, USA. Professor Kolko has published extensively on the subject of juvenile firesetting since the 1980s and his latest juvenile firesetter manual entitled Keys to Success will be published by the Oxford University Press.
Professor Kolko will speak about the latest research findings and developments in juvenile firesetting work. A series of practical workshops will complement this input, allowing delegates to learn new techniques and strategies in their direct work with children and adolescents who set fires.
The conference is open to all professionals working with children and adolescents who set fires, managers and practitioners with responsibility for safeguarding at-risk and vulnerable families, and those looking to understand more about this specialist work. An especially warm welcome is extended to overseas delegates working in this field.
fabtic is excited to be working so closely with Professor Kolko and the Cognitive Centre, and welcoming Professor Kolko back to England after his last UK firestter conference in 2009. fabtic also looks forward to welcoming professionals from a range of disciplines and experiences to the 2015 conference. In addition to learning from Professor Kolko’s expertise and experience, the day will be an excellent opportunity to meet others working in this specialist field and share examples of best practice.
Exact details on the conference venue, timings and costs will be available in January 2015. In the meantime, please contact info@fabtic.co.uk to be added to the conference mailing list.
