fabtic is pleased to be holding two training courses in central London in March 2016.

The first is the five-day Foundation Training for Staff Working with Children and Adolescents who set Fires, which is aimed at staff new to this specialist field or those already working with juvenile firesetters and who are looking to enhance their skills. Previous delegates have included personnel from Fire and Rescue Services, Youth Offending Teams and forensic psychology.

The training course provides the theoretical knowledge and practical tools required to work effectively with children and teenagers who set fires. Using evidence-based research and practice throughout, the course equips attendees with the understanding and practical skills to ensure their work is ethical and effective when working directly with vulnerable children and families.

Firesetter case studies and discussions, practical examples and direct-work strategies are used throughout the five days, with certificates of attendance awarded to all delegates who complete the course.

The foundation course runs from Monday 7 – Friday 11 March 2016 in central London and the week’s fees are £750 per delegate. Daily lunch and refreshments are provided for delegates but those attending are required to source their own accommodation where needed.

For more information and to book a course, please email info@fabtic.co.uk or call (020) 7249 0652.

The second training event is a one-day course aimed at practitioners experienced in working with anti-social adolescents.

Assertiveness when Working with Anti-Social Adolescent Firesetters focuses on the key principles of assertiveness and developing a clear understanding of how these are applied in practice so that we can improve outcomes for anti-social teenagers. Areas covered will include being aggressive, passive and passive-aggressive, and dealing with demand, criticism and praise. The course will also include key tips and techniques, including practicing the skill of fogging.

The course is delivered by fabtic and the Cognitive Centre, meaning delegates will benefit from the input and facilitation of two trainers on the day.

This one-day course will be held on Thursday 31 March 2016 in central London and the costs are £145+VAT per delegate (with lunch, refreshments and all hand-outs included).

For more information and to book a course, please email wendy@cognitivecentre.com or call (029) 2051 3048.
