fabtic is pleased to announce a one-day training course in central London on Thursday 6 November 2014, relevant to all professionals working with children who set fires or with responsibility for safeguarding vulnerable families.
Enhanced Skills For Effective Engagement with Juvenile Firesetters provides those attending with evidence-based findings on the risk factors associated with firesetting. This knowledge is then applied to understanding anger and aggression when working directly with juvenile firesetters, and an exploration of how best to use listening and reflecting skills when attempting to change behaviour. In addition to this wider understanding on the subject, delegates will leave the course with new, practical tools and exercises to use in their work.
The theories and practical techniques learned can be applied by all professionals working directly with children and adolescents who have challenging and offending behaviour, ensuring the day is relevant to all agencies working with vulnerable families.
The training is delivered by staff from fabtic and the Cognitive Centre, who have a combined experience of delivering firesetter and risk training to over 33 UK Fire and Rescue Services, and working with statutory, voluntary and private organisations in the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Australasia and the US.
The day also provides a networking opportunity for professionals in a range of support services from across the UK to share and discuss ideas together. Bookings so far include professionals from Fire and Rescue Services, Youth Offending Teams and the field of forensic psychology.
The training runs from 0930hrs to 1630hrs and will be held at InTuition House, 210 Borough High Street, London, SE1 1JA. The venue is one minute from Borough tube (on the northern line), a five minute walk from London Bridge rail, tube and bus stations and within walking distance of Waterloo mainline and tube station.
The cost of the day is £145 + VAT per delegate, including all materials, lunch and refreshments.
